BMW has announced a March 2027 U.S. launch for the electric iX4 50 xDrive, priced from $66,200 before destination and handling. The U.S. release carries an October 7, 2026 dateline and was posted October 8. A more powerful M60 xDrive will follow later in 2027.

The U.S. numbers are preliminary

BMW lists 463 horsepower for the 50 xDrive and a 4.7-second 0–60-mph time. Its claimed range of up to 428 miles is a preliminary estimate from BMW testing using EPA procedures, rather than a final EPA certification. Maximum DC charging is 400 kW; BMW estimates up to 184 miles added in ten minutes.

For the M60, the company quotes 603 hp, 645 lb-ft and an estimated 3.7-second 0–60-mph sprint. These are manufacturer figures; Chiefs Review has not driven or tested either model.

Why European range figures differ

The global release quotes up to 828 kilometers for the 50 xDrive under WLTP, with equipment information referring to Germany. That figure should not be converted into miles and presented as a U.S. EPA rating. Different test procedures and market specifications mean the two announcements answer different questions.

What to check before ordering

Treat the $66,200 figure as the starting point for a written quote. Ask for destination, options, taxes and the expected delivery date for the exact configuration. A launch month does not guarantee when a particular dealer will receive the car you want.

The charging headline also needs a practical check. Compare charging stops on your regular routes, including the equipment available and how much energy you actually need to add. A maximum charging rate is not the rate the vehicle will hold through an entire session.

Rear-seat headroom and luggage access deserve an in-person check in any SUV with a sloping roof. Shoppers can use our EV charging-routine guide and truck and SUV checklist to organize the comparison.
