Mercedes-Benz Japan has opened orders for a 200-unit Mercedes-AMG G 63 MANUFAKTUR Edition, adding five special exterior colors and the first use of a MANUFAKTUR dark-chrome package on the G 63. The company announced the Japan-market special edition on October 9, 2026.

What makes this G 63 different

The edition’s main changes are cosmetic and exclusivity-focused. Mercedes-Benz Japan says the five MANUFAKTUR exterior finishes are not offered on the regular model. Dark-chrome treatment is used to give the SUV a more subdued look than conventional bright trim.

  • Production: 200 vehicles for Japan.
  • Exterior: five special MANUFAKTUR colors and a G 63-first dark-chrome package.
  • Identification: “G 63 Limited” lettering on the side stripe and passenger grab handle.
  • Included accessory: a custom Titleist golf bag carrying G 63 and AMG logos.

Mercedes-Benz Japan is accepting orders through its authorized dealer network. The announcement does not establish availability in the United States or other markets, so the 200-unit figure should not be read as a global production total.

A special edition built around presentation

The manufacturer’s summary focuses on finish choices, limited-edition lettering and the bundled accessory rather than a new powertrain or chassis package. Buyers should therefore treat this as a market-specific specification of the existing G 63, not a newly engineered G-Class generation.

That positioning differs from a full model launch such as the BMW iX4 U.S. introduction or the new Lancia Gamma range, where the underlying vehicle and powertrain story are central. Here, scarcity and MANUFAKTUR customization are the headline.
