BMW Q3 Deliveries Fall 6.3% as European EV Sales Jump

BMW Group delivered 551,072 vehicles worldwide in the third quarter of 2026, a 6.3% decline from a year earlier. A 24.8% drop in China outweighed growth in Europe and the United States, even as the company’s global battery-electric deliveries increased 7.2%.
BMW released the provisional figures on October 13. The total covers BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce automobiles delivered between July and September; BMW Motorrad is reported separately. The figures are deliveries to customers, not production volume or dealer shipments, and BMW says they may change before publication of its full 2026 group report.
China erased gains in Europe and the US
BMW and MINI combined delivered 235,628 vehicles in Europe during the quarter, up 2.7%. US volume rose 2.5% to 106,741, while the broader Americas region increased 2.6% to 129,190.
China moved in the opposite direction. BMW and MINI deliveries there fell 24.8% to 114,355 vehicles in the third quarter. Through September, the region was down 21.8% at 376,128 vehicles. BMW attributed its namesake brand’s decline to difficult market conditions, but the company did not provide model-by-model China results in this release.
The remaining “Fourth Pillar” region—which BMW defines as Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa—declined 10.8% in the quarter to 70,830 vehicles.
| BMW Group measure | Q3 2026 | Year-over-year |
|---|---|---|
| Automotive deliveries | 551,072 | -6.3% |
| Battery-electric vehicles | 110,257 | +7.2% |
| Europe: BMW and MINI | 235,628 | +2.7% |
| China: BMW and MINI | 114,355 | -24.8% |
| United States: BMW and MINI | 106,741 | +2.5% |
European EV growth was the clearest bright spot
BMW Group delivered 110,257 fully electric vehicles worldwide in the quarter, 7.2% more than a year earlier. Europe accounted for 81,941 of those vehicles, up 37.5%. Battery-electric models represented 34.7% of the group’s European deliveries—slightly more than one in three.
The wider “electrified” category, which combines battery-electric and plug-in-hybrid vehicles, was nearly flat globally at 150,795 units, down 0.3%. That means the battery-electric gain did not translate into growth across BMW’s full plug-in portfolio.
BMW said the new iX3 has surpassed 100,000 European orders within a year and called it the group’s strongest model launch to date. Orders are not the same as deliveries, however, and the press release did not say how many iX3 vehicles reached customers during the quarter. The China-market version is scheduled to begin rolling out in November.
MINI grew year to date, while BMW M and Rolls-Royce fell
Across the first nine months of 2026, BMW Group automotive deliveries totaled 1,707,799, down 4.9%. The BMW brand delivered 1,483,960 vehicles, down 6.4%, while MINI increased 6.8% to 220,247. BMW said 37.2% of MINI’s year-to-date volume was fully electric.
BMW M delivered 48,915 vehicles in the third quarter, down 6.3%, and 148,510 through September, down 6.1%. Rolls-Royce quarterly deliveries fell 18% to 1,069. BMW Motorrad sold 46,605 motorcycles and scooters in the quarter, a 12.5% decline.
What the regional split means
The result shows that BMW’s European EV momentum and US growth were not large enough to offset its China decline. It also puts the company alongside other European groups reporting uneven regional demand: Volkswagen Group recently reported lower overall deliveries alongside stronger European EV activity, while Stellantis posted European growth but a North American shipment decline.
BMW’s product cycle may change the mix in coming quarters. The company pointed to interest in the iX3, new 3 Series and X5, and has been previewing electrified high-end products such as the Concept 7 Protection plug-in hybrid. This delivery report does not establish how those launches will affect revenue or profit; those questions require BMW’s financial results, pricing and margin data.
