Škoda Adds a Full Hybrid Octavia With December Deliveries Planned

Škoda announced on October 5, 2026 that the Octavia will become its first full hybrid. Both hatchback and estate versions are included, with orders opening during October and initial deliveries planned for December 2026, according to the manufacturer.
A hybrid that does not need a charging cable
The system pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors. One chiefly generates electricity; the other drives the front wheels. Automatic control switches between battery propulsion, engine-generated electric drive and a mechanical connection from the engine to the wheels.
Škoda lists system outputs of 100 kW and 125 kW and a 1.6-kWh gross battery. Charging comes from the engine and recovered braking energy. The announcement covers Selection and Sportline trims; it does not establish U.S. availability.
What buyers should compare
A full hybrid deserves a different shopping checklist from a plug-in hybrid. The practical question is how much fuel it uses on your normal trips, rather than how often you can plug it in. Ask for the locally approved consumption figures and an itemized price before comparing it with an existing petrol car.
Also check the exact body style and luggage space with your own bags. A powertrain badge alone cannot tell you whether the car fits your family’s needs. Our guide to planning for electric ownership explains why the charging routine becomes a separate consideration when shopping for a battery EV.
