2027 Honda Civic Adds Sport-L Trim and S+ Shift to the Hybrid

2027 Honda Civic Sedan Sport-L

Honda is expanding the 2027 Civic lineup with a new Sport-L trim and adding its S+ Shift drive mode to the Sport Touring Hybrid. Sedans and hatchbacks are beginning to reach U.S. dealers now, while Honda says the Sport-L will join the lineup by the end of 2026.

Where the Sport-L fits

The Sport-L sits between the gasoline Sport and the Sport Hybrid. It uses Honda’s 2.0-liter gasoline engine and adds leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, illuminated vanity mirrors and a passenger-side seatback pocket.

Honda lists the 2027 Civic Sedan Sport-L at $28,495 before the $1,295 destination charge. The Hatchback Sport-L starts at $29,695 before destination. The overall sedan lineup still begins at $24,995 for the LX, also before destination.

S+ Shift comes to the Civic hybrid

The Sport Touring Hybrid gains Honda S+ Shift, a software-based drive mode first introduced on the 2026 Prelude. It simulates gear changes, including rev-matched downshifts and gear holding, and adds enhanced engine sounds. It does not turn the Civic’s hybrid system into a conventional stepped automatic transmission; the feature is intended to make acceleration and deceleration feel more involving.

Honda prices the Sedan Sport Hybrid from $29,695 and the Sedan Sport Touring Hybrid from $32,695, before destination. Hatchback versions begin at $30,895 and $33,895, respectively. Honda’s published EPA estimates are 50 mpg city, 47 highway and 49 combined for both hybrid sedan trims. The hybrid hatchbacks are rated at 50 city, 44 highway and 47 combined.

Safety and production

Every 2027 Civic includes the Honda Sensing suite with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and road-departure mitigation. Sport models also receive blind-spot information and rear cross-traffic alert.

The Civic Hatchback is assembled in Greensburg, Indiana, while the sedan comes from Honda’s Alliston, Ontario, plant. Honda builds the hybrid’s electric drive unit in Ohio and the 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine at its Anna Engine Plant.
