Ford Recalls 41,748 Expedition and Super Duty Models for Headlight Risk

Ford is recalling 41,748 SUVs and heavy-duty pickups in the United States because contamination beneath an LED chip may cause one or more exterior lighting functions to dim or stop working. The campaign is identified as NHTSA recall 26V606 and Ford recall 26C43.

Vehicles included

The U.S. campaign covers certain 2025–2027 Ford Expedition SUVs and 2026 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks. Transport Canada lists the same model groups in its parallel recall and notes that only vehicles equipped with LED headlamps are affected.

Depending on the vehicle and headlamp design, the problem may affect daytime running lights, parking lights, low beams or high beams. Ford’s filing attributes the risk to possible contamination beneath an LED chip inside the headlight assembly.

Why the defect matters

Dim or inoperative exterior lights can reduce the driver’s forward visibility and make the vehicle harder for other road users to see, increasing crash risk. The U.S. recall also says the affected vehicles may fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps and reflective equipment.

Inspection and repair

Dealers will inspect both headlight assemblies and replace any assembly that does not pass, free of charge. Ford is expected to begin owner notification by mail in November. Owners should confirm coverage with their vehicle identification number because model year alone does not establish whether a specific truck or SUV is included.

Owners can use the official NHTSA VIN recall lookup or contact a Ford dealer. Recall information may appear in the VIN database after the manufacturer and regulator finish loading the affected population.

This is separate from the recently filed Rivian campaign. Chiefs Review’s Rivian R2 recall report explains that vehicle’s high-voltage connection issue, while our NHTSA lighting-standards report covers a broader federal review rather than a manufacturer recall.
