Rivian Recalls 14 R2 SUVs Over a High-Voltage Battery Connection

By Chiefs Review Editorial Team
Rivian is recalling 14 model-year 2027 R2 vehicles because an improperly tightened high-voltage battery fastener could cause a loss of drive power. NHTSA acknowledged the campaign on October 1, 2026, following Rivian’s September 29 report.
The official identifier is NHTSA campaign 26V625; Rivian’s number is FSAM-1888. This report covers that specific campaign, rather than a claim that all R2 SUVs are affected.
The repair and notification plan
NHTSA says a loss of propulsion increases crash risk. Rivian will inspect and repair the connection or replace damaged components as needed at no charge. Owner letters are expected to be mailed November 28, 2026; the acknowledgment also lists November 28 as the planned date for affected VINs to become searchable on NHTSA.gov.
Owners can contact Rivian before the mailing
Rivian customer service is 1-888-748-4261. Have the VIN ready and ask about FSAM-1888, your vehicle’s inclusion and the current service arrangements. The published dates are planned dates and may change.
An empty lookup before the listed VIN-search date should not be treated as definitive clearance. NHTSA’s recall guidance explains that some recently announced recalls may not yet have every affected VIN identified.
Keep the campaign details with the vehicle
Save the campaign number and any service confirmation together so you can distinguish an inspection from a completed repair. If you receive a notice, follow the manufacturer’s instructions and ask the service team to explain what was checked and whether further work is needed.
The notice’s small population should not be used to estimate another owner’s risk or to diagnose a vehicle remotely. Individual inclusion and service advice belong with Rivian’s VIN records and technicians. Chiefs Review has not inspected an affected vehicle.
