BMW says an October 2026 rollout will bring navigation, surrounding-traffic information and driver-assistance status together in one 3D view. The announcement, issued September 14, applies to compatible vehicles running BMW Operating System X.

The feature uses BMW’s assistance systems alongside mapping technology from Mapbox. BMW says it is intended to make the relationship between route guidance and assistance activity easier to understand.

Availability is conditional

BMW specifies a phased rollout and requires Highway Assistant or Highway & City Assistant. Availability is limited to selected countries, cities and roads. The company separately describes navigation-guided urban assistance beginning in 2027, initially in Germany.

A display is not permission to stop supervising

Our practical advice is to read the vehicle’s operating instructions and confirm the assistance mode currently active. A detailed visualization should not be treated as proof that the vehicle has detected every hazard.

Owners should check software eligibility, the installed assistance package and local restrictions. An October rollout window is not a promise that every existing BMW will receive the feature on the same date.
