Hyundai unveiled a new Tucson in New York on October 1, 2026, announcing a redesigned SUV with hybrid technology and the Pleos Connect infotainment system. The company also introduced the Tucson XRT PRO as an adventure-oriented version.

Hyundai’s announcement describes a fuel-economy target of up to 42 mpg for its next-generation hybrid system. That is a manufacturer target in the release, not an independently verified road-test result.

The technology story

Hyundai highlights Gleo AI and an expanding application marketplace within Pleos Connect. It also describes Smart Terrain Assist for the XRT PRO. Buyers will need the final local specification to determine which functions come with each trim.

What remains important for shoppers

A global reveal is an early step in the buying process. Local pricing, delivery dates, standard equipment and final certified efficiency figures should be checked before making comparisons with vehicles already on sale.

Chiefs Review has not driven the new Tucson. This report covers Hyundai’s announcement rather than a first-drive verdict. Our priority for a future comparison is how the cabin controls, hybrid operation and equipment work in everyday use.
