Porsche’s October 5 report describes a Cayenne Electric media drive through Cappadocia, Turkey, using paved roads, gravel and rocky terrain. The event included the Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric.

The company highlights electric all-wheel drive, off-road systems, energy recuperation and 800-volt charging technology. It also says towing capability reaches 3.5 tonnes depending on market and vehicle specification.

Capability needs the right configuration

A maximum towing figure should not be applied to every example of a model. Buyers should confirm the exact vehicle’s approved tow rating, hitch equipment and local documentation, then account for trailer and payload requirements.

A manufacturer demonstration, not our road test

The terrain described in Porsche’s report shows the setting for its demonstration. It does not establish how the SUV compares with rivals under identical test conditions. Chiefs Review was not present at the drive and has not independently tested these claims.

For prospective owners, the next useful evidence is a vehicle-specific charging curve, real-world energy use and the effect of towing or off-road driving on a planned journey.
