BMW of North America reported 100,210 BMW-brand vehicle sales in the third quarter of 2026, up 3.4% from the comparable 2025 period. Its October 1 release also put year-to-date BMW sales at 287,154, a 4.3% increase.

MINI moved in the other direction: quarterly sales were 6,531, down 10.2%, while year-to-date volume was down 7.4%.

The electrified headline needs context

BMW says plug-in hybrid sales increased 23.2% during the quarter, but combined battery-electric and plug-in hybrid sales fell 24.9%. The company attributes the broader decline to market conditions and a planned model changeover.

What the numbers do—and do not—show

Brand-wide sales offer a snapshot of demand and product timing. They do not tell a shopper whether a specific model is reliable, whether a local dealer has inventory, or what discount is available. Those are separate questions.

Readers should also keep plug-in hybrids and battery-electric models distinct when comparing headlines. Growth in one category can coexist with a decline in the combined total. The figures here are manufacturer-reported U.S. sales, not a count of global deliveries.
